Swiss media (SRF. 2022.08.04) reported slow uptake of the recommended booster among its seniors:
The authorities have been advising vaccination for a month – but almost nobody goes there. The Federal Office of Public Health is naming figures for the first time: by August 1, only 11.9 percent of the total population aged 80 and over had gotten the second booster. That is less than every eighth.
The top canton doctor in Switzerland admits: He hoped for and expected higher vaccination numbers. "We would have been pleased if the second booster vaccination had been carried out more widely," says Rudolf Hauri, President of the Association of Cantonal Physicians in Switzerland.
Sure you would, Rudolf! And yet, behold these two charts side-by-side:
Did they start boosting because people were dying, or did they start dying after they’ve been boosted? Do they stop boosting after people stop dying, or do they stop dying after they’ve been stopped being boosted? You can clearly see which of the two is the leading variable here
To the credit of the Swiss seniors, they finally clued in and mostly refused to be boosted for the second time, which has been explained away as “vaccination fatigue“ by SRF:
"Some vaccination fatigue"
So far, people over 80 were the most keen to get vaccinated: over 80 percent had their first booster administered. Now, with the second booster, they hesitate. "A certain vaccination fatigue plays a role," says canton representative Hauri.
Or maybe the Swiss seniors can read the graphs? Fool me once?
Dr. Jay Bhattacharya just booked a flight to Zurich to help get the numbers up.
Yes, that was snarky. I need sleep.
My mom told me to take deathvax, to take one for the team.
Horror of that still lives with me. I don't know anybody... Did I live with these people.
She did show fatigue in December... A little late, and After she turned in her status as American, logical thinker
