Size of person, age, sex, race, existing issues all factors as well. It's possible some people did not experience any adverse effects for a number of reasons, including the possibility of receiving a placebo if those were part of the general population experiment. Those are the persons most likely to continue, but it's still a risk. Alternatives should be considered for which there are many.
