Lying through Their Numbers - Ontario Edition (as of 2022.01.04)

A local Ontario news outlet, Orilliamatters.com, has been put in place within an hour - as it happened...

Orilliamatters.com has been one of very few news outlets in Ontario that would, to this day, present daily Covid-19 statistics in a neutral manner - simply by publishing the headline numbers, without “massaging” them. Not any more, as of 10AM Dec. 22, 2021.

They did it as usual at about 10:30:

“Public Health Ontario is reporting 4,383 new COVID cases today. Among the new cases reported today were 746 unvaccinated, 172 partially vaccinated, and 3,243 fully vaccinated people. 222 cases were reported without vaccination status information.”

“420 people are in hospital testing positive for COVID-19. Among the hospitalized cases (not in ICU) are 137 unvaccinated people, 13 partially vaccinated, and 109 fully vaccinated people.“

“168 people are in ICU due to COVID-19. In the ICU there are 83 unvaccinated cases, three partially vaccinated cases, and 36 fully vaccinated cases.“ Presumably, the other 46 cases are martians.

To the dismay of the Covid-19 “authorities”, these numbers show that unvaccinated constitute 17% of all reported cases, and their share in the total population is also 17%.

What’s more, there are 4.57 times more cases reported in other “vaccination” statuses than among the unvaccinated. And the unvaccinated are a minority of the ICU cases and less than 1/3 of the hospitalizations. There goes the myth of “the pandemic of the unvaccinated” (still very much in use in Canada). An urgent corrective action has been, apparently, demanded, and dutifully provided an hour later on the same website:

“Health Minister Christine Elliott says 918 of today's cases are in people who are not fully vaccinated, and 222 are in people whose vaccination status isn't known.“

“Elliott says 420 COVID-19 patients are in hospital, including 311 who are not fully vaccinated or whose vaccination status is unknown.”

“Provincial data show 168 people are in intensive care due to COVID-19, including 132 who are not fully vaccinated or whose immunization status isn't known.“

It’s too obvious what Health Minister Christine Elliott is desperately trying to do here - present the numbers so that a casual reader will end up with the impression that the unvaccinated are disproportionately adversely affected by “Covid-19”. Good try? Let’s see what other arithmetical equilibristics they will have to deploy a week from now to make the ever worse numbers more palatable to their dishonest narrative. I guess, they regret having the numbers in the first place - maybe that is where they will concentrate their efforts next.

2021.12.23 UPDATE: Today they (all media outlets) stopped writing about the actual numbers of cases by the vaxx status! Except I could still find them in a popup in the cases graph (not a default setting - the default is rates per 100,000 somehow mysteriously still showing a slight advantage for the vaxxed, but the raw numbers do not agree with their calculated rates.

2021.12.24 UPDATE. As of yesterday, they were calculating, somehow, that unvaccinated have higher rate of infections than “vaccinated”. Today, even according to their calculations, “vaccinated” officially took over:

So naturally, the media stopped mentioning that number either. Except to say: “The majority of those ending up in the ICU are unvaccinated.“ Or is it freshly jabbed? As they count persons within 2 weeks of the 1st jab as unvaccinated:

, these freshly jabbed persons are being added to the unvaccinated counts. I would not trust them to be honest with these stats either, judging by how they get out of their way to spin the data that they don’t like. Why do they like or dislike the data, why not just do your job? Rhetoric. I bet the real number of truly unvaccinated getting infected or hospitalized is about 1/2 of the reported number, if not less (as proven in “Beware of Greeks Bearing Gifts“).

2021.12.30 UPDATE: With the testing hitting the capacity limit, no one knows how many cases there are now. From what they report, it’s 14.5% attributed to the unvacinated, thus the vaxxed taking a solid lead in the rate of infection. Again, who knows how big of a lead:

The obvious conclusion by the “authorities”: get your booster ASAP! Also launching the 4th jab to the old folks’ homes and transplant recepients. The insanity continues unabated.

2021.12.31 UPDATE: The testing capacity in Ontario has been completely overwhelmed, the eligibility for PCR tests greatly curtailed, by the trend is obvious - the now vaxxed catch Covid way more than unvaxxed, and the gap keeps growing by the day:

2022.01.04 UPDATE: “Ontario changed testing eligibility on December 31. Only high-risk populations are able to get a publicly funded PCR test. As a result, case numbers reported by the province are no longer an accurate reflection of COVID-19 in the province.“ Who would have thought?! I would: as soon as the infectivity trends are undeniable and counter the vaccine effectiveness narrative, ban the numbers.

Getting your booster is still the best thing you can do for yourself and “the community”. Don’t ask me why.
