“Smart people first in line for COVID-19 vaccines, study suggests” (UofM, 2023.09.08):
Intelligent people get their COVID-19 vaccines much faster, suggests a study of more than 750,000 people in Sweden published in the Journal of Health Economics.
A total of 80% of the most intelligent people were vaccinated within 40 days of vaccine availability, while it took 180 days for those with the lowest cognitive ability to reach that level. The results, the researchers said, suggest that the complexity of the vaccination decision may make it difficult for people with lower cognitive abilities to understand the benefits of vaccination.
"If we are to have equal care for all, we need to take into account the different ways people absorb information," lead author Mikael Elinder, PhD, said in the release.
The study itself, “Cognitive ability, health policy, and the dynamics of COVID-19 vaccination” (Journal of Health Economics, Volume 91, September 2023), says:
The study population consists of all men and women who enlisted for military service in Sweden between 1979 and 1997. During this period, enlistment was mandatory for men the year they turned 18 or 19. The study population thus covers almost the entire population of Swedish men born between 1962 and 1979, in total 750,381, as well as the sample of women who enlisted during the period of 1980–1997, in total 2703.
Cognitive ability: We collect data on cognitive ability from the Swedish Military Archives, which keep records of the test scores from the Swedish Armed Forces’ enlistment procedure. Cognitive ability is assessed through a test, similar to the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (Ludvigsson et al., 2022), aimed at eliciting the individual's logical, verbal, and spatial abilities as well as technical comprehension. The tests scores are standardized to create a score on a stanine (standard 9) scale (integers 1 to 9, with 9 representing the highest test scores), which approximates a normal distribution with a mean of five and a standard deviation of two. This means that 3–4% of the population scores 1 and 9, respectively.
A clear pattern is visible: At each point in time, there is a positive monotonic relationship between cognitive ability and vaccination rate. For example, a vaccination rate of 80% is reached after approximately 50 days in the group with the highest cognitive ability score and after 180 days in the group with the lowest score. After 90 days, furthermore, the vaccination rate in the top group is 91% and only 71% in the lowest group. After 360 days, the vaccination rates have converged to 96% in the top group and 85% in the lowest group.
Well, what can I say? I must belong to the cognitive ability category of -9? As after two and a half years since the jabs were made available to me, I still didn’t manage to get any…
On the other hand, one should be able to use one’s intelligence to distinguish “smart talk” from BS, shouldn’t one?
And maybe the “intelligence tests” used for army recruits were skewed to gauge the obedience of the recruits, and blind obedience is the smartest thing any commander is wishing for in his subordinates? And the ones that were failing miserably were the ones with the most ability for critical thinking? At least this is where I find some consolation in the otherwise unpalatable “situation”.
As to how smart, in retrospect, the decisions of the “smart” army recruits have been, just listen to this “science-laden” rant by the [now former] Premier of Australia’s Victoria State:
And that’s how great the jabs worked, at the time of the rant, for Covid mortality, lockdowns and all (it went only downhill from there):
No matter how desperately I’d like to be taken for “smart”, all my internal alarms go haywire when I watch this “performance”. No can do! How about you, dear reader?
Well if "smart" is measured by how willing you are to fall into lockstep to allow someone to Inject a substance into your body without informed consent and no pkg inserts included with the vials, then I'm wacked out of my consarned mind. I was so stupid, I refused to be coerced with $$$, lottery drawings on my job, free beer and marijuana. I love all three of these amenities but not so much that I would take a concoction from a bunch of lying charlatan bastards. I was so dumb, that if mandated to take it, I was prepared to leave my job and let my vehicle go back and I had just purchased it in 3/2021. I stood my ground while coworkers went for the money $1000-$2000 to get entered into a raffle. Those that took the carrot are sick over and over needing 4-5 days off each time they get infected. Sometimes it doesn't take book smarts, it takes common sense.
It seems I maybe identify as functionally retarded as well as politically incorrect.
